I’ve been married to a person who has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They have no empathy and no concern for anyone but themselves. They are mentally ill. A husband is commanded to love his wife and a woman is commanded to respect her husband. These people are all about total control. Neither have the love of Messiah. In either case they both have broken the covenant of marriage. Thoughts?
I would be interested to know what you mean by an NPD being “mentally ill?” NPD does not equate to mental illness, however, NPD is considered brain damage. This is because during their developmental years up until 4 or 5 years of age they did not develop the paths in their brain that give them empathy. There are different levels of NPD by the way, some very extreme to others not so extreme. But in every case, very damaging to their family while the world around them loves them. They actually have low self esteem, but the average mind would not know it.
The newest information it is a mental illness.
They target empathic persons and essentially suck the life out of them.
Cluster B personality disorders. There is controversy about why this happens. Bottom line is that they like it and they can’t change. Many psychologists now feel that a family member was/is a Narc and it is learned behavior and all about control. It’s still being researched. In any event , the father of my children controlled me with $$. He had a PhD in engineering from CalTech. I just though he was strange, many are. He was very immature. He truly didn’t care about us. The second married me for my $$. He is very immature and very bad about money, he spent all of it. He refused to be any kind of head of the house, even though he pretended to be very Christian. Never paid the bills, never prayed, never assumed responsibility for anything. HG Tudor writes extensively about Narcissists and Sociopaths. He is one and gives tremendous insight as to how they think and spin their deceit. His insights are quite frightening. He talks about an entity taking over, I remember Ted Bundy talking about an entity taking over. Now my question is: is this a spiritual problem? It would seem so. They are unaware of their cheating, their lies, they deny their secret lives. Nothing is ever their fault, ever. Just a thought about demonic entities. He will go from very pleasant to a horrible tantrum in a second, then act like nothing happened! I can see the raging hatred in his face. This is why I think it is demonic. Psychologists don’t understand spiritual problems.
Been reading Derek Prince as well. Shalom, brother Steve
It is true that they are drawn toward people with empathy and suck the life out of them as you say. This has been known for quite a while now and it’s a very sad situation that there are people so sick that they do such things not realizing the damage they do to others.
